What We Ordered & Full Review

Toasted Sourdough with Kombu Butter ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This butter deserves its own award. After dining at numerous fine restaurants across Singapore and Europe, we thought we’d tasted exceptional butter. Lolla’s kombu butter tops them all.

The sourdough arrives perfectly warm with a crackling crust and beautifully chewy interior, clearly baked in-house or sourced from an excellent bakery. But the star is that kombu butter: whipped to airy perfection with subtle umami depth from the seaweed that enhances rather than dominates. It’s savory, slightly briny, with a complexity that makes you want to order a second basket just for the butter.

At SGD 14, it’s expensive for bread, but this isn’t just bread, it’s the opening statement that tells you you’re in excellent hands.

Burnt Cabbage, Crispy Capers ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Who knew cabbage could be this exciting? The cabbage is charred to perfection with deep caramelization creating layers of sweet and smoky flavors. The crispy capers add briny pops of texture and saltiness that balance the sweetness beautifully. This is vegetable cookery at its finest, transforming a humble ingredient into something genuinely memorable. Don’t skip this.

Hand Torn Pasta with Brown Crab ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Pure, luxurious indulgence. This is the pasta you dream about weeks later. The hand-torn pasta has that perfect al dente bite with irregular, rustic edges that catch the sauce in every crevice. The portions of sweet brown crab meat are genuinely generous, no skimping here and the quality is impeccable.

The sauce is rich and buttery without being heavy, likely finished with good butter and reduced crab stock that amplifies the natural sweetness of the crab. Each bite delivers clean, pure crab flavor that doesn’t get lost in the pasta. The seasoning is perfect, just enough to enhance without masking the delicate sweetness of the crab.

Pan-Fried Lemon Sole ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Textbook-perfect fish cookery. The lemon sole arrived with gorgeously crispy golden skin and pristine white flesh that flaked perfectly with gentle pressure. The fish retained its natural moisture beautifully—a testament to precise timing and technique.

The accompaniments complemented the delicate fish without competing. At SGD 69, it’s the priciest item we ordered, but the quality of the fish and the flawless execution justify the cost. This is exactly how premium fish should be prepared and served.

Grilled Iberico Pork Collar ⭐⭐⭐⭐

While excellent, we’d actually recommend the Argentinian Striploin instead for those seeking red meat. The Iberico pork was beautifully marbled and cooked to juicy perfection with attractive char marks, but based on reputation and reviews, the Argentinian striploin appears to be the standout meat dish at Lolla.

Le Paradou Glass ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A well-chosen wine that paired nicely with our Mediterranean-focused meal. The price is standard for fine dining establishments in Singapore.

Lolla sits firmly in fine dining territory with prices to match. However, the execution, ingredient quality, and overall experience justify the cost for special occasions. The kombu butter and crab pasta especially delivered exceptional value relative to their prices.

For an anniversary, special celebration, or simply treating yourself to world-class Mediterranean cuisine, Lolla delivers the complete package without unnecessary pretension or inflated pricing.
